For hire: Teachers take part-time jobs

Cashier, custodian, tutor, balloon decorator, Shipt driver, adjunct instructor, property manager, airport ramp agent, medical assistant, studio musician, dance instructor, latchkey facilitator, lifeguard, travel agent, online instructor. and overnight receptionist. Those are some of the part-time positions teachers have taken on to supplement their income. 



At the Lincoln Hills Restoration Retreat, the young ladies work on self-preservation through yoga and other activities.

Students attend Denver retreat

NAF along with the Fund II Foundation sponsored its second annual Lincoln Hills Restoration Retreat which is normally for black male achievement. But this year, young women were welcomed for the first time since the start of the organization. 





English teacher Andrew Kemp and his team of students are on boulders that will be used in the Outdoor Reading Theater as landscape features to add visual interest. These 3-4 foot masses of granite will lend a strong earth science appeal along with the biology appeal of the trees.

Teacher receives $7.5k grant

King’s English teacher Andrew Kemp is in the process of building an Outdoor Reading Theater on the school’s grounds. Kemp applied for an Innovative Educators Grant given by Community Connections Foundation in partnership with United Way and was awarded a $7,500 grant.

Crusaders start mentoring group to help youth Making A Difference By: Jade Brookins and Tatiana McAfee A group of male seniors at King have come together in a positive way to help inspire and mentor middle school boys and break the negative cycles that plague inner-city youth.  These eight seniors in Making A Difference (M.A.D.) are Don Barnes, Desjuan Davis, Desmond Foster-Carter, Jamal Hairston, Kamari McHenry, Lorenzo Scott, DeMarcus Taylor, and Jalin Willis.
