Crain, MSU commit to high school journalism

By Alana Burke Crusaders’ Chronicle On Sept. 23, journalism students from several Detroit high schools met at the MSU Detroit Center on Woodward Avenue to hear about a new partnership between Crain Communications and Michigan State University. Detroit-based Crain and Michigan State University’s School of Journalism have pledged to revitalize the Detroit High School Journalism Program, which has been helping Detroit students practice journalism since 1985.

Guest teacher gives back

Hungry for seconds

By Odalis Pena-Guzman and Andres Gonzalez The Western Express Following last school year’s championship season, Western International High School boys basketball head coach Derrick McDowell is confident in a repeat. The team is full of players with experience and the hunger to repeat, but the players will have to work harder to be prepared mentally and physically for the season, McDowell said.
