As the school year winds down and the class of 2021 prepares to walk across the stage and enter a new chapter in life, a lot of emotions are being felt among seniors throughout Detroit schools. COVID-19 has restricted a lot of the opportunity’s students would have received if school were in person, but nevertheless, students were able to persevere.
The graduating class of 2021 is vigorously seeking financial assistance to offset the cost of attending college.
Finally, 2020 has come to an end. It has been one of the most climactic years for a lot of people. We had the death of Kobe Bryant, COVID-19 began to spread throughout the world, the death of George Floyd sparked an uproar around the world and caused riots and protests, and one of the biggest presidential elections we have had in decade.
When COVID-19 hit the United States, most of us went into lockdown. Some states stayed in lockdown all year, while others like Michigan were able to be released after a few months. As COVID-19 cases began to increase again this fall, on Nov. 16, Michigan went under another three-week shutdown.
This entire year has been very hard and rocky for everyone, and since the new 2020-2021 school year has started, many students have had many mixed emotions about how the year has been so far.
