Renaissance: King reigns over Romulus

By Nnena Naji Staff writer

The Lady Crusaders of King High School continue on their season, beating the Eagles of Romulus High School, 49-35, in the Class A Quarterfinals held at Dearborn Fordson.

“It’s always our defense that will bring us up, it makes us play better. Our offense, that’s just there. Our defense, we have to play that in order to win. And that’s what we’ll do next game and hopefully that game after that,” Senior Janae Williams told Tom Lang from the Detroit Free Press.

The Lady Crusaders are 24-1, losing only one game throughout their whole season.

“I think we came out with a lazy attitude and they jumped on us. They started real well, got off to a good start and continued to play well. In the end athleticism took over and so we were able to overcome, and play a better game.” King coach William Winfield told Tom Lang.

Senior Janae William had 13 points for King followed by Senior Jayla Nichols for Romulus with 11 points.

“We have an all-around game. Everyone on this team has a role, and we played those roles tonight.”
