Renaissance: The Road to Glory

By Nnenna Nnaji Staff writer

The Lady Phoenix Basketball season is heating up. The playoffs have started, and the team plans to win it all and go on to the championship.

The Lady Phoenix’s second playoff game was declared a “blow-out,” with a 71-30 win as they faced the Lady Colts of Northwestern High School.

“This was a really good game at first, but it seems the Lady Colts just couldn’t handle the pressure Renaissance put on them,” said Northwestern parent Mary Towns.

The Lady Colts had an undefeated record in the PSL going 10-0, until The Lady Phoenix got a hold of them.

“The only reason they had that record was because of the division that they are in. They don’t get to play teams that have good basketball IQ,” said sophomore Amber Mccowan.

Bolstered by the Lady Phoenix’s success, other fans wholeheartedly agree.

“When they were in division 1, they could barely win any games. Now that they are in another division they become undefeated? Just how?”said junior Makayla Johnson..

The Lady Phoenix team now boasts a 7-5 record and are one step closer to their championship dream.

“This is only the beginning of something great,” said team captain, junior Jeorgia Jones.
