Cass Tech outdoors club hit the slopes

Cass Tech Outdoor Adventure Club (OAC) went on three scheduled ski trips to Mt. Brighton Ski Resort this school year. The OAC has taken previous excursions, but the ski trips were the first of its kind for the club. 

Junior Afrin Ahmed said skiing was more challenging than she expected. 

“I’ll say it was just like, I thought it was going to be really easy, but it was really hard,” Ahemd said. 

CT ELA teacher Erin Ewing chaperoned the ski trips. She said she enjoyed chaperoning in part because the OAC members represented CT well. 

“I was so impressed with our young people,” Ewing said. “I just thought we really represented Cast Tech so well. Everyone was respectful to the ski instructors. They were respectful to our hosts at Mt. Brighton, and I was just so pleased with how well everyone just showed what it means to be a Cast Technician.” 

Despite the challenges, Afrin enjoyed the ski trips. 

“The ski trip was really fun,” Afrin said. “It was like a different experience for me because it was my first time. And it was really hard for me, but I liked it. It was really fun, even
