OPINION: Off-season work helps spring sport athletes find success at CMA

Sports in the spring are hardly discussed. Let’s recognize them.

A sensation of revitalized energy and excitement accompany the season. Athletes and coaches are eager to see what the season will have in store. There are many different activities available in spring sports, including track and field, softball, baseball, tennis and lacrosse. A vibrant tapestry of athletic competition is created by the distinct abilities, difficulties, and thrills that each sport brings to the table.

For athletes, the arrival of the spring season signified the end of the months of hard work and perseverance. They prepared for challenges through preseason training and conditioning, and when the season started, it was time to put those skills to test.

Before the spring season started, CMA track athlete and sophomore Jiana Morris said, “I’m so glad that those weeks of conditioning are over, I’m ready to go out there on the track with my teammates and put all that hard work on the track against other schools.”

Athletes were eager to show off their skills and compete with determination and passion as the weather gets warmer and the days get longer.

In order to lead and shape athletes they are responsible for, coaches are an essential. Athletes can’t develop to their maximum potential without their guidance, leadership and expertise.

Coaches inspire and encourage their players, laying groundwork for success both on and off the field.

Warm regards goes out to all the players, coaches, and teams for the remainder of the season.
