On April 23, the JROTC Program held its awards ceremony for its superstar enrollees. The private students are entering the program for the first time. Cody has not had a program since the school got back to normal in the 2020 school year.
This school year, the JROTC program participated in the Veterans Day parade, JROTC competitions, rifling competitions, the Black History Program, physical fitness awards, and upcoming graduation.
Sgt. Grant read the awards to the students as Cpt. Kemp and Principal Solomon presented the awards.
The lone senior student honored at the ceremony was Sanaa Harris. Kemp spoke highly of the student.
“Proud of how far she has come in the program,” Kemp said. “I hope she can maintain some of the routines she has learned in the program.”
The students received awards and honors for their grade-point averages, their participation in JROTC events, their leadership, and commitment to the program.
The student of the year was ninth grade student Tashawna Clay. She also received awards for having an honor roll GPA and a committed school year.
