On April 3, Cody High School students took a tour of Lawrence Tech’s Southfield Campus.
When the students first arrived, they met a tour guide, and he directed students to a conference room where he introduced Lawrence Tech to them. He informed the students about the different majors and career paths they could take, and different concentrations they could focus on.
He also talked about the top-ranked programs, which includes Lawrence Tech’s architecture and STEM programs. He also informed the students about the costs of tuition and other fees, along with scholarships and other ways to pay for college.
They then began to walk around campus, starting with the student center, where they could find help with things we needed to enroll and register. They also looked at a nursing simulator room the college had, where they showed students how nursing and medicine-related majors can practice or participate in clinicals. Students then walked past outside projects built by students, such as a metal surrounded garden.
Another room they stopped in was Lawrence Tech’s engineering buildings, where students saw their robotic workshops.
Cody senior Keishaun Jones said, “It was cool to see all the different features of the room.”
The tour guide presented the different clubs and organizations students could join that were centered around Lawrence Tech.
Students toured the dorm halls and got a view of one of their traditional dorms for freshmen.
The tour guide gave students a run-down of different things that could and could not be brought into the dorms and student buildings in general.
Overall, the tour was very educational to Cody seniors to learn about another opportunity to further their education.
