The Cody golf girls team played their first and only scrimmage against Renaissance on Sept. 30 at Glenhurst Golf Course. The girls did not win but were proud of their performance against Renaissance.

“I am proud that they were able to remain on the green throughout the game and even hit a couple of holes under par,” said Coach Arnell Maxell. “The ladies are getting better, and they are building confidence.”

The Cody High School golf program began at the end of last school year. At least eight students were interested in coming out to play golf for the school’s new team. After several practices in the spring and fall only two of those students were dedicated to learning the sport and play for the team.

“Starting a new sport is hard for anybody but these girls continue to come to practice and learn. They are getting better every practice,“ said assistant coach Kecia McClendon.

Any ladies or gentlemen who are interested in becoming a part of the Cody golf team contact Coach Maxwell, Coach McClendon or Coach Baker.
