Should students be allowed to use headphones in class?

<p></p>

Benjamin Carson High School previously allowed students to use headphones. The students were allowed to use headphones during individual work with the teachers’ permission. Now there is a new rule not to allow them at all except for educational purposes, like watching a class-related video.

“ I’m on the fence,” said JROTC Instructor Petty Officer Justice, “because sometimes it helps student cut off distractions and lets them focus, but sometimes they take advantage and put it on during unnecessary times.”

The BCHS diagnostic staff surveyed 130 students and staff members about this topic. Here are the results.
