Twelve Frederick Douglass Academy ‘Dream Kings’ on Friday, Feb. 12, visited Detroit International Academy (DIA) to pass out carnations with poems on cards.
The Valentine’s Day trip to Douglass’ sister school was organized by the school’s Future Project, a Douglass mentoring program with 14 students, known collectively as the Dream Kings. Douglass, an all men’s academy, frequently joins with DIA, an all women’s school. The goal of this first-time event was to bring together students from both schools.
The Dream Kings delivered flowers to DIA students and staff in an effort to make the women there feel appreciated and to give them something for Valentine’s Day.
