Osborn: Knights fight to the finish

By Aniqua Nichols Staff Writer

The Osborn Knight’s boy’s basketball team are Division II East champions.

Since the decisive 94-18 win against Davis Aerospace, the team has been on a winning streak.

Victories over Detroit Central, Detroit Denby, Fredrick Douglass and CMA helped the Knights to enter the division championship with a strong 11-5 record.

The Knights beat Cody, 68-48, on Feb 6, they advanced to the second round of the Public School Playoffs (PSL).

My team is priceless,” said Osborn guard, senior Deandre May. “If we come to play we are guaranteed to win.”

Although the team entered the same division championship last year, they plan to go further this year. May is averaging 17 points per game, while small forward Joseph Thomas is averaging 15 points per game and power forward Christian Little-John averages 10 points per game. They are all recognized as consistent players who have inspired their team through this journey.

“It’s all about perseverance this year, all our past games and wins and losses has led up to this moment,” coach Lonnell Williams said. “It’s been a pleasure to coach these young men, they have given 110% and we look forward to a tough challenge in the state playoffs.”

Osborn was scheduled to play Detroit Pershing for a chance to advance in the playoffs.
