EEV: March signs with Southern Illinois

By Diamond White Staff Writer

Kamahl March is a senior at East English Village. He is on the football team and runs track. March recently committed to Southern Illinois on Feb. 4 (National Signing Day), where he plans on furthering his dreams as a football player.

“I been playing football since I was younger, about 6 years old for the Detroit Giants,” March said.

March said football has always been his favorite sport, but in his free time, he likes to watch movies, talk on the phone and shop online.

Over the years March says he has worked with wonderful coaches, but his most favorite one Rodrick Oden.

“Coach Rod is a wonderful inspiring inspirational coach that turns young boys into young men,” March said.

Oden said March owns the school record for sacks and the quarterback tackles for loss, adding that he is an explosive player and is very hard to block. Oden says March will excel at the collegiate level.

Not only does March play football at EEVPA, his younger brother Zhamaine, a freshman, will follow in his footsteps and continue his family’s football legacy.
